Forestry Innovation Consulting (Vietnam) LTD is a subsidiary of Forestry Innovation Investment (FII), a Crown agency of the British Columbia (BC) Government and headquartered in BC, with a focus on expanding opportunities for BC forest products and ensuring the forest sector continues to grow and prosper. Market development activities in Vietnam are managed under the brand Canadian Wood Vietnam (www.canadianwood.com.vn) by the local team who operate from an office in Ho Chi Minh City.  

Canadian Wood Vietnam promotes BC and Canada as a global supplier of quality, environmentally responsible wood products from sustainably managed forests. Through market development programs, Canadian Wood works closely to support wood industry professionals across Vietnam including manufacturers, designers and wholesalers to educate, inform and grow the market for BC wood species across Vietnam. As part of FII Vietnam and reporting to the Manager, Marketing; the Senior Marketing Specialist (Senior Marketing Executive) will play a key role in delivering FII Vietnam’s market development activities. The role will support the Manager, across a range of functions including marketing and communications, event management, content generation, agency management, customer relationship management (CRM) system oversights as well as logistics for marketing operations and wood product trial inventory.

Working as part of the marketing team, this position will contribute to supporting FII Vietnam’s marketing and communications channels including websites and web resources; development of marketing materials, brochures, videos, etc.; brand support for tradeshows and seminars; advertising and performance marketing, earned media relations; and other related activities.


POSITION PURPOSE
The FII Vietnam marketing team works together across the organization to implement FII’s strategic marketing activities and is the communications and creative arm of the Vietnam team. The Senior Marketing Specialist supports the implementation of Canadian Wood’s strategic marketing activities, ensuring key messaging and marketing materials are relevant, up-to-date and support FII’s market development program in Vietnam. Working with the Manager, Marketing; this position organizes local marketing activities, including managing the media buy plan, performance marketing, developing and updating marketing materials (print and digital), updating website content, being the project manager for Canadian Wood’s participation at tradeshows, coordinating educational seminars and special events; and managing FII Vietnam’s CRM system including system use, data integrity and relevance. This position also works closely across the Vietnam team and with Head office on program reporting and initiating contracts with vendors. 


 Key Job Responsibilities Include:
Marketing and Communications (40%)
  • Working with the Manager, Marketing; the Specialist helps execute all marketing and communications activities in Vietnam. Works collaboratively with the Vietnam team and Head Office to project manage and deliver Canadian Wood’s marketing and communications activities; 
  • Liaises with external marketing and communications agencies and other supporting vendors to support activities, ensures alignment with FII Vietnam’s strategy, and oversees related performance metrics;
  • Supports digital performance initiatives, including website traffic monitoring, campaign tracking, and content delivery across social media platforms;
  • Implements Canadian Wood’s media buy plan including advising the team on existing and new opportunities, communicating with publishers or relevant vendors and assisting with negotiating final contracts;
  • Coordinates all aspects of creating new marketing materials and updating existing marketing materials including copy creating and/or editing, fact checking, working with vendors on graphic design needs, and ensuring content is appropriate for the intended audience; 
  • Oversees the production and printing of all marketing collateral such as brochures, wood samples, factsheets, case studies, signage, training materials, pricing guides etc., ensuring quality, budget and deadlines are met;
  • Undertakes translation of marketing materials or other documents from English to Vietnamese and Vietnamese to English (if required);
  • Plans, contracts, executes, and evaluates photography taken (both at events and of furniture) to ensure consistency, accuracy and timeliness of content, key messaging and graphic design standards across all communications media (digital and print);
  • Manages inventory of furniture and other display/tradeshow assets including storage and condition of the items while ensuring all showroom and display furniture are in good condition.


Event Management (50%)
  • Works with and supports the Manager, Marketing on planning and implementing Canadian Wood’s tradeshow presence from start to finish ensuring high professional business standards are met and the FII Vietnam team and Head Office are apprised of planning details as required;
  • Working with the Vietnam team, manages the planning, organizing, and implementing of seminars, workshops, networking events and exhibitions, etc.;
  • Coordinating with Head Office and the Vietnam team, supports on planning and development of itineraries for government mission programs and industry delegations, and coordinates logistics and bookings;
  • Collaborates with Vietnam team to develop seminar content and calendar as well as leads seminar planning, presentation preparation and execution of final event;
  • Organizes team/group meetings including facility bookings, catering, distribution of agendas and materials, minute taking and distribution, etc. as required;
  • Provides translation and interpretation support at meetings and events as required.


Data and Reporting (10%)
  • Working with the Marketing Manager, drafts content for corporate newsletters to share program updates and success stories for Head Office on the FII Vietnam Program; 
  • Working closely with the Vietnam team, maintains the customer relationship management database by utilizing the CRM system including inputting data on a timely basis and generating reports as required.


General Business Support
  • Providing assistance and support to the Country Director in implementing various tasks to support the day-to-day operation of the company, as well as its long-term growth.
 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate joins FII Vietnam with project management, marketing and communications experience with excellent business communication skills in English and Vietnamese. Specific skills and experiences required include:
 
  • A bachelor degree with a specialization in Marketing Communications, Commerce, Business Administration or related field with 3 to 5 years of experience in similar role;
  • Previous project management experience in marketing and communications required;
  • Solid experience in event management and digital perfromance marketing are required; 
  • Experience working for a multinational firm and multilingual marketing materials would be an asset.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Excellent/advanced written and verbal business communication skills in Vietnamese and English with copywriting experience;
  • Well-organized and high productivity with a strong self-improvement mindset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service attitude;
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills required;
  • Ability to plan ahead and identify possible problems in time so as not to affect the scheduled event; 
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Outlook; 
  • Knowledge of print production is desirable;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to pay high attention to detail;
  • Superior organizational skills, problem solving skills, negotiation skills and flexibility;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
